However, it is during the graduation ceremony that Mike is prompted to come up with a theory about how El might have survived.. However, they eventually get back together after Mike tells Eleven about Hopper's threat. At The start of season 4, Eleven lives in California with Joyce, Jonathan, and Will, while Mike is still in Hawkins. They agree that Mike will come over to California for the spring break. However, Eleven doesn't tell him that she is struggling at school.

Stranger Things hints at the impending breakup of Mike and Eleven, as their relationship struggles to survive in Season 5.. Mike and El met when they were children - they fell in "love" when they were children. S4 marks them growing up and growing apart - I believe that Mike and El will be friends at the end, so long as Will lives - though I truly believe that either Will or El will end up dead/trapped in the upsidedown/ambiguously sacrificing themselves, and this will tear the relationship apart.
