Closing the fuel filler lid 1. To install the cap, turn it clockwise until it "clicks" one time. This indicates that the cap is securely tightened. 2. Close the fuel filler lid and push it in lightly making sure that it is securely.. If the fuel filler door does not open using the remote fuel filler door release, you can open it manually. Unsnap and remove the panel in the cargo area. Pull the handle outward slightly. CAUTION Do not pull the handle excessively, otherwise the luggage area trim or release handle may be damaged.
Simple but frustrating issue, the gas cap fuel door isn't responding to the lever by the driver's seat. The internet says there should be a panel in the rear that, when opened, will reveal an emergency fuel door release but I cannot find one (there are panels but they don't seem to be hiding anything helpful). Any suggestions? Later models (2013 and on I think) do have a panel marked with a.. Sorry my mistake, it wasnt the gas cap but the actual fuel door 2013 Santa Fe is the model When I try to open the fuel door through that button on the driver side door, it will make a sound but it won't open.
