With the tail light removed, remove the light bulb from its wiring harness. Connect the trailer wiring harness to the bulb from one side, and the bulb's wiring harness from the other. Feed the rest of the trailer wiring harness through the hole, where the assembly sits, until you see it from under the truck.. if you take the tail light completely out and disconnect it from its 8 or 9 pin connector there is still wiring attached to the whole tail light assembly. This is where i spliced my wiring in. 4pin universal connector-----truck wiring harness left turn signal-----left tail light assembly, green yellow

One side of the harness plugs in behind the tail lights without splicing but the wiring portion of.. The black box labeled U Haul is a converter that allows you to have red stop, tail lights with separate amber turn signals on the tow vehicle and a single red turn/stop/tail light on the trailer. That converter box will fail in a year or so. Fortunately, the Scotch Locks to splice into the factory wiring harness won't even last that long.
