Hi-Torque Starter - install in '65 Monza HELP ! by TonyCorvair » Wed Oct 23, 2013 6:39 pm I have a '65 Monza 110 HP with Power Glide. I replaced my starter with a Hi-Torque from Clarks the starters wiring configuration is different than the stock starter.. Starters not using external solenoid or foot operated switch: When key operated switch is used, remove jumper from starter that connects internal solenoid to the battery stud. Put wire from start switch on spade terminal of starter. Attach battery cable to 5/16" stud on starter.
B. In another method, you would attach the 10 gauge wire to the flat blade terminal on the starter, and route it up to the starter solenoid on the wheel well, attaching it to the output side of the solenoid where the starter cable normally attached.. This same diagram is available on each of the starter pages. Picture #2 & #3 are examples of the bypass wire installed. Picture #4 shows a screw terminal for those cars with a ballast resistor "triple wire" hookup. No need to place this in the shopping cart for checkout.
