The Wild and Scenic Snake River flows through the rugged Hells Canyon, and at 1,078 miles long, it is the largest tributary to the Columbia River. Travelers on the Oregon trail journeyed through Snake River canyons on their way to the Willamette Valley. On the Idaho bank of the Snake River, the Snake River National Recreational Trail #102 runs about 30 miles south from Upper Pittsburg Landing. You will be hiking upstream and passing historic ranches and cabins as you go..
