Over the course of Arc 7, Spica would continuously try to stick by Subaru's side, attempting to protect him from harm from numerous characters, such as Rem, Todd, and the citizens of Chaosflame. However, the greatest example of her desire to protect Subaru came when she died protecting Subaru over and over again to Olbart Dunkelkenn.. But that does not happen as Arc 7 kept on progressing, Rem started to bloom feelings for Subaru once again (although its not confirmed, the implications in the last couple chapters is a dead giveaway), it is highly unlikely that Rem would actually end up with Subaru so I do not know why Tappei is going with this only to have her a get rejected.
